A 70-year-old man has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl in the Tsakanin Bayara area of Bauchi metropolis.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib.
According to the statement, the girl’s 48-year-old father reported the incident at the ‘E’ Division, Yelwa, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
The father alleged that on Sunday, August 24, at about 11am, the suspect, identified as Usman Abubakar, lured his daughter to an uncompleted building in the area, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The police said operatives of the division immediately arrested Abubakar following the report.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the offence, according to the command.
The victim was subsequently taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and treatment.

The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for discreet investigation and prosecution.
